Val Benson is the Research Director for the Center for Impact Finance at the University of New Hampshire’s Carsey School of Public Policy. With 20 years of experience in applied research and evaluation, she specializes in impact evaluation and measurement strategies that advance evidence-based approaches to addressing economic disparities. She has led several large-scale research and evaluation initiatives for federal agencies, foundations, and nonprofits on topics ranging from housing and workforce development to financial capability and sustainability. Prior to joining the Center, Val held research leadership roles at MEF Associates and Abt Associates, and worked at NeighborWorks America, where she supported grantee compliance for the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program. She holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Alabama.
