Mary Navarrete is the Director of Community Impact at Point West Credit Union, where she brings over 18 years of experience championing financial inclusion and community development. She began her career as a teller and advanced to Loan Officer before stepping into her current leadership role—driven by a deep commitment to equity and opportunity for all.
A proud graduate of Clark College and a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor, Mary also holds multiple certificates in Financial Management, Consumer Lending, Professional Development, and Credit Union Management from Mt. Hood Community College. She has represented the Northwest region internationally through the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) exchange program in the Dominican Republic and was recognized with the 2019 Young Credit Union Leader Award by the Northwest Credit Union Association. She also served as Oregon’s representative “GAC Crasher” at the Credit Union National Association’s Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, DC.
Originally from Michoacán, Mexico, and a Washington resident since 1997, Mary is a proud first-generation immigrant who leads with purpose. She currently serves as Board Chair of Bienestar, a nonprofit dedicated to culturally relevant affordable housing and community programs for Latino and low-income families. She is also the Vice President of the Pacific Northwest Juntos Avanzamos/NLCUP Chapter, helping lead regional efforts to uplift Latino credit union professionals through training, networking, and community initiatives. Mary is a committed member of the Portland/Vancouver Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN) Sister Society and recently joined the Heights Community Investment Committee (HCIC), further extending her impact in local economic development and equity efforts.
Through her work, Mary continues to drive initiatives that center accessibility, empowerment, and generational wealth-building—believing that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive and pursue the American Dream.
