Transformation in Motion
Faith Community United Credit Union & Rid-All Green Partnership
Monday, April 28
1:00pm – 4:00pm
Available in English & Spanish
This visit will begin with a tour of Cleveland’s historic Glenville neighborhood, a community deeply rooted in the African American experience and renowned for its legacy of Black entrepreneurship and community empowerment. It was in this neighborhood, in 1952, that Faith Community United Credit Union was founded in the basement of the Second Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Today, Faith Community United Credit Union stands as one of Ohio’s largest minority-owned credit unions, continuing its mission of “people helping people” through unwavering support for community development.
Our next stop will be the Rid-All Green Partnership, a remarkable urban farming initiative in Cleveland’s Kinsman neighborhood. Once an illegal dumping ground, this site has been transformed into a thriving food ecosystem and a symbol of hope. During the visit, we’ll receive a guided tour of the grounds and learn about the efforts of youth groups and volunteers in combating food deserts by providing locally grown produce. The tour will conclude with a visit to the community kitchen, where you’ll have the chance to sample their famous elixirs, produced right on-site, and enjoy a fresh meal prepared with ingredients sourced directly from the farm (vegan & fish options available).
Please note that while most of the tour is accessible, some outdoor areas may have soft ground. We recommend dressing in layers as the outdoor temperature can be cool, and the greenhouses tend to be warmer.
Sign up is included as an option within registration.
