Madison Wisconsin is the US credit union movement epicenter that’s home to organizations that have played a key role in its development, growth and relevance, such as America’s Credit Unions; TruStage, CUES, Filene, and the World Council of Credit Unions. The genesis and development of this ecosystem is due to Wisconsin’s cooperative legislative history, that goes back to 1897 when WI becomes one of the first states to enact laws officially authorizing cooperatives.

TruStage, our host for this convening, has played a storied role in our movement and we are grateful for their partnership in hosting this convening and working alongside Inclusiv and our members to advance community development credit unions.

University of Wisconsin

Home to the University of Wisconsin, whose Madison campus spans 939 acres along the southern shore of lake Mendota. With more than 50,000 students, almost 30,000 faculty/staff and a campus with over 420 buildings, UW takes over a significant portion of downtown Madison and gives the city a diverse, cosmopolitan and energetic vibe.

Architectural Masterpieces

Madison features the Royal Thai Pavillon, located in the Olbrich Botanical Gardesn, is the only pavilion of its kind in continental North America. It was a gift from the Thai government and is adorned with shimmering gold leaf.

It’s also home to many masterpieces by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, such as the Monona Terrace and Convention Center, the Unitarian Meeting House and many others.
